study on sedimentation characteristics of soft clay

There are large areas of soft clay distributed in coastal China, which often used as raw materials for hydraulic fill engineering recent years, and its sedimentation characteristics have attracted more attention. In this paper, the influence initial water content on is studied through experiment. The results show that: (1) process can be divided into two stages: stage self weight consolidation stage. has a short time, soil property index tends to stable quickly; very slow, almost no change; (2) larger clay, greater rate faster sedimentation; (3) higher content, sedimentation, void ratio, smaller density.
